How to limit the size og the first page ?

  • Exuse me if I post in the incorect forum or something like that, but I heard about Word Press for the first time yesterday, and after one night with no sleep, I think I have one installation that works pritty well, i think, “the way I want it to work”.

    It’s only one thing I’m vondering about ..

    On the first access on the web page it lists all the blog items that has been posted. After that I can restict it by klicking on groups etc.

    I found a way somewhere in the docomentation so it could come up with only one group of “blog items”, and I tried to use that, and it worked, but it apeared that the drawback was that the search function did not work any more.

    So I modified it back to “orginal” and now it lista all my “blog items” if I access the site.

    Is there any limit how long this first listing will be, or is there any way to restrict it without loosing the search function ?

    I’m rather courious if there is an answer because the rather long “start up listing” is the thing that vorries me at the most just now. Possible there is some kind of limitation, so it will not only empty out all the blog listing at each forst visit to the site ??

    Exuce me, I have not learned the right temonology yet. I did not restrict it to “groups”, but I restricted it to “Categories” and the problem is that I am afraid that it will lists houndreds of items from all Categoreies when you visit “the root” of the site.

    You can change how many posts show, by going to the Reading Options and changing either the # of posts, or the # of days to show.

    Then to change what comes out in the search, you can use the Custom Posts per page plug in. Do a search to find that.

    Thanks a lot for vert quick help. It worked like a dream. Even though it is claimed to be a blog I think it’s the best CMS that I have tried.
