How to LIMIT shortcode to ONE post?

I used the shortcode on a post, and it worked perfectly.
Unfortunately, it also applied itself to the home page of my blog, where it turned all the shortcode results into Featured post boxes (there should only be two at any given time). It was kind of amusing, but not the expected result. I’ve disabled the plug-in, for now, but I really like it and all the flexibility it offers, so I really hope for a fix!
If it helps, the post where the shortcode was entered is one of the Featured posts.
The shortcode was [catlist year=2016 monthnum=04 orderby=date order=asc]
The blog looks like it’s supposed to, right now: https://jahangiri.us/2013 (I do have a screenshot of what it looked like when the plug-in was activated, but you can imagine about 30 of those top two Featured post boxes listed before the normal front page.)
