How to Limit Logins

    I’ve used Sucuri along with the Limit Logins plugin for a long time now. However I’ve recently seen some problems with Limit Logins. So I’m looking for a replacement. Ideally the replacement would make a log of the blocked IPs so I could then block them permanently. Does your plugin do that? If not, do you have any recommendations?

  • We do not have that option, but you can take note of the IP addresses logged in the “Failed Logins” panel located in the “Last Logins” page. Then add the unwanted addresses in an access control file to deny their future access.

    I am not a frequent user of external plugins so I do not have an option to offer you at the moment, but I am planning to add this feature in the following days to complement some improvements that I am making in the “Hardening” tools.

    Thanks for your reply. I look forward to seeing the new features on your plugin.

    The problem that we’re having is that limit logins doesn’t automatically prevent offending IPs from seeing the site. It would be great if the locked out IPs would see a 403 page instead of just being prevented from logging into the site.

    Task finished with this commit ac6fcd4 [1]; once the pull-request #8 [2] is merged with the rest of the code we will release a new version of the plugin with the changes applied. If you want/need this sooner you can install the development archive from here [3].
