How to let users setup their own sites on multisite?

Hi, I’m trying to set up my multi-site, so that after someone becomes a member they can set up their own site if they want. I am running a gamer site for an mmo. The main purpose of the sites my users set up will be for their guild and other members of the site will be able to become members at the guild site. I am running multi-site with sub-directories. At wpmudev they have one or two plugins to help but I’m still not sure how to offer members the opportunity to start a site/Guild page. Any suggestions will be greatly abbreviated. I have just re-installed wordpress and switched it to multi-site and have done nothing else yet. I want to get an idea of how I should be setting up the site for this and what plugins to use before I go further. Thanks,
