How to learn developing a plugin or a theme or anything for wordpress.

    Hello experts,

    I run 2 wordpress blogs. Whole intention is to run ads and earn whatever I can take, sofar very meager sob sob…

    So now I wanna be more productive on wordpress, not just a passive content creator waiting for the adsense revenue to increase (God knows when it’ll cross $10.00 since past 4months , again sob sob).

    So what is the best way to start learning to create a plugin/theme ?

    I am open to new avenues other than plugin/theme.., if there is such a thing for wordpress!

    Please advise.

    any gurus out there, who can help this learner!!!!

    There is always a lot of good information in the Codex, though sometimes a little hard to find.

    Packt Books has some good eBooks for immediate download. See especially ‘WordPress Theme Design’ and ‘WordPress Plugin Development’.

    Do I have to master PhP first to take on a plugin/theme ? Don’t know PhP :^(

    Any tips on getting my feet wet soon into plugin/theme development.

    Yes, absolutely. And HTML, CSS and MySQL, too, for most projects.

    P.S. Can any body recommend a good book for plugin development, or a theme development ????

    The PackT Books I mentioned before are quite good.
