I know this may sound like a dumb question but the last 72 hours I have had a series of infections or malware over the site. It was picked up by the anti virus wordpress function and my servers after I spoke to them, identified 84 ‘infections”. After they cleaned it up ,i thought it was fine but now now i have 8 new infections, in the theme and in the wordpress core- on the public access html directories. None on plugins!

I am tearing my hair out as i have no clue what to do. The servers have not cleaned the site again for me at this point. I have lots of posts to put up and a newsletter to send out and i don’t know whether i should post or not because i have no idea how serious the problem is.

For reasons i won’t bore you with, I have to get this issue sorted as a matter of urgency and i am just a blogger with no skill on the technical side.

If the virus is not serious i am happy to carry on BUT i don’t want to infect anyone else. What should i do? Please help. Thanks

  • I’m a bit late to the party here but (if you’ve not already found a solution) would you be able to provide more information? What are some examples of files / warnings you are getting?

What software/service are you using that is showing you these warnings?

Any other weird behavior the site is exhibiting? Is it redirecting visitors to other places?

Sitecheck tool doesn’t seem to be flagging anything:
