    We use MailPoet to communicate with our members and manage Subscribers manually. Recently we decided to implement a forum on the website and have allowed members to have WP user accounts to access it. These accounts seem to interfere with Subscriber management seeing any changes as duplicate email addresses. We have disabled the WordPress Users list but this doesn’t seem to solve the issue. Is there a way around this or do we have to set up a separate WP site to run MailPoet.

    (We really do like MailPoet and hope to keep using it.)

    Hi there @bcavanagh,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    If I understand correctly, you are using MailPoet and recently started using a plugin to add forums functionality on your site and since then you’ve been having issues with user management (e.g. duplicate subscribers).

    If that’s the case, it sounds like the Forums plugin you are using saves/updates your subscribers’ details on your database in a way that’s conflicting with MailPoet 3.

    I’d recommend reaching out to the forum plugin you are using to check if they are compatible with MailPoet 3 or if other users have reported similar issues.

    I hope this helps!

    @guicmazeredo thanks for responding.

    My problem is not duplicate subscribers. My problem is that in cases where I have a specific person (i.e. email address) in both the MailPoet Subscriber database AND the same person/email address as a WordPress user attempts to correct/update the email address in the subscriber database fail being detected as a duplicate entry.

    As I noted above I am trying to run the MailPoet subscriber database totally independent from the WordPress User database. I have disabled the WordPress user list but there still seems to be a linkage between the two.

    Hi there @bcavanagh,

    I don’t think there is a way to make the MailPoet subscriber database run independently from the WordPress user database but I’m double-checking with our developers.

    I’ll keep you posted. I appreciate your patience.

    @guicmazeredo,

    In your email you requested “Could you please contact us via the floating Chat icon that appears when you are navigating in MailPoet menus on your website’s dashboard?” I can’t find any kind of Chat icon on the dashboard. Is it only visible during your working hours? I’m in the Eastern time zone (Ontario, Canada).

    In any case I suspect that our “use case” is something not anticipated by your developers. I’d welcome an opportunity to outline our needs and the varied use of our website. I could send a document if you want to provide an email address.

    If the icon is not displaying for you it’s likely that you don’t have MailPoet Premium installed on your site.

    No worries though, that message was actually a mistake. It was supposed to be sent to another user that’s experiencing an issue that requires further investigation. I apologize!

    I heard back from our developers and I’m afraid that there isn’t a way to unlink the MailPoet subscriber database from the WordPress user database.

    A workaround would be deleting the duplicate subscriber and then changing the user’s email but you would lose the data and statistics.

    We would like to hear more about your use case and needs. It would be great if you could add it as a suggestion here?https://feedback.mailpoet.com

    Our team will take it into account when discussing new features and improvements for the plugin ??

    Thank you!

    @guicmazeredo,

    Actually we are a Premium installation qualifying by being under 1000 entries, not as a paying customer.

    I’m not surprised with the response from your developers. I anticipated it so I’ve set up a separate WP site to handle our mailings where WP users will be very limited and not conflict with our member subscribers. Thanks for your help on this. Just having the limitation confirmed is helpful.

    I will write up our needs and send them to the link you have provided.

    Hey @bcavanagh,

    I understand that this is not the answer you desired but I’m glad I could help at least by confirming your thoughts.

    Thanks a lot for adding your ideas to our feedback section!
