    Hi,

I just can’t see any option to delete tables, the screenshots in the tutorials look slightly different

    https://cln.sh/lt9tKDGN

When I look at your tutorials I see a “Delete” button. And according to the website this should be possible in the free version.

What am I doing wrong here? Tested on two different websites with two different hosting providers

Please let me know, would love to test it out

    Hi,

Are you using the Expert mode?

I tried both modes .. I just don’t see the same that you show in your screenshots in the tutorial. See the two screenshots I added please. One from your tutorial shows the “Delete” button. My screenshot doesn’t show the “Delete” button

Actually, it’s the red cross on the left ??

I can guarantee that it does not work. I’ll try to show you via Recording later. I tried everything. It’s just not doing it. And I tried it on two different sites (I think even two different hostings). In the end I deleted everything manually in phpmyadmin. I also tried another plugin that also worked.

I need to see if I find a site where I have tables to drop

I took more time last time to carefully try all possible ways – here just a quick attempt to show you. I added a test table in phpmyadmin to simulate it, as I didn’t find any tables to drop safely

    Hey there,

is there any info on this? I tested it on two sites, I put an effort into it but it’s clearly not working as it should.

    Thanks

    Hi Markus,

Normally, in your WordPress, tables should all use a prefix. But this table isn’t using any (contrary to the other ones), so I believe that’s the problem.

Of course, I could handle it and delete the table. But for reliability, the plugin only works within the context of the current website. That avoid some potential issues. But yes, it’s a bit misleading, the button should be at least marked as disabled.

Can you try with another table, which has a prefix?

    Hi Jordy,

well that was just an example (I deleted already all tables directly in phpmyadmin or with another tool). So I was forced to manually create a new table that I can try to delete with your plugin again to record it to show how it is working (or not working in that particular case)

That saying, I am not 100% sure about those other tests I run and about the prefix. It was definitely “real” tables and not just some made up tables for testing without prefix. I also tested it on at least 2 different WordPress sites.

However, it could indeed be that those were tables with a different prefix than the actual WordPress instance, as I needed to cleanup also some tables that were left from another installation/migration/DB snapshot leftover

I can’t recall the details as too much time has passed. I know it worked with another tool. I can see your point when you say you only want to allow dropping tables with the same prefix

I can definitely pay attention to it next time. Overall, I spent quite some time on it as it’s misleading, so if you can show/improve this somehow that would be for sure a good idea (more and more people get into DB migration stuff I would assume, and that could save other people a few hours)

    best regards
    Markus
