• I give up! I’m trying to install the back up plug in. I’m on a Mac. I went to this website and followed the instructions but I still can’t figure it out:

    https://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup

What am I doing wrong? I got as far as downloading the thing. I see the wp-db-backup.php file that I am supposed to upload to wp-content/plugins and then activate it under the plugins menu. Huh? I have no idea how to do this.

I really just want to blog and not lose my stuff. Please help! Thank you.

It is considered to be very rude.

Did you upload the file to your web server, or are you confused about that part of it?

Or, are you running a web server locally on your Mac?

The information found in the wp-db-backup.txt file seems clear enough to me. Did you read it?

Yes, I am confused about that part of it, the uploading part. I have a folder that has the backup php file but I don’t know how to upload and then activate it. I am not running a web server on my Mac. Thanks.

Yes, Kctipton, but it does not work for me or I wouldn’t be here. My take is that no one knows. Thanks.

You need to upload using an FTP client. See FTP Clients in the codex.

When it’s uploaded into the plugins folder, click “Activate” next to its name on the plugins page in your WP admin area.

I am having a similar problem (though with a different plug-in). I have uploaded the plug in to wp-content/plugins via an FTP client. However, it is still not appearing within the plug-ins page in my WP admin area. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
