How to install this Forum?

  • Hi, I’m wondering what the name of this forum’s plug-in is? I’d like to include one in my membership blog and need something light weight.

    If you have suggestions for other add-ons / plug-ins that will allow users to post to a chat/blog like forum, please let me know. By this I’m not looking for a phpBB solution or Forum like software…too many levels. I’d like to to be more like a combination of a chat room (not necessarily live) which allows posting images.

    Thx Rev Voodoo, will do.

    I checked out BuddyPress today and it caused my site to fail…seems others are having recent issues with it’s installation too.

    Just out of curiosity is there a way to get blog posts to show up in a compact format sequentially newest to oldest in WP?

    here is a bit of a read too, something I thought about implementing was custom post types to do my own forum. Seems there is a plugin on the way to do just that. I know I’m watching this discussion closely

    As for compact wp posts sequentially, most WP themes show posts that way to begin with. As for compact, do you mean show only an excerpt? Or styled compactly? The style is up to your theme, and you can always edit that. If you just want a bit of your post as opposed to the full post, you can swap out the_content for the_excerpt in your theme….most likely index.php, possible loop.php

    That (JustinTadlocv’s) sounds like quite a plugin, and a good idea too. Alas I’ll have to wait until he’s released it.

    BTW: I think this is the plug-in both Rev VooDoo and emsi are referring to.

    Rev Voodoo: I’m still configuring WP and was wanting to have users create posts, and display the entire post in a compact form on a page, like the one in this Forum. I’ve tried selecting a category page where the posts are all assigned the same category (i.e.: ‘forumChat’), yet this delivers the posts in an abbreviated excerpt format, truncating the posts and putting large “Titles” atop each post. My Theme is TwentyTen v1.1, if that makes a difference.

    we are actually referring to this. Its a standalone software, that can be integrated with WP.

    As for displaying posts the way you want, you would really need to find a theme like that. The layout of the posts is totally dependant on the theme. I know I’ve seen themes like you are descibing (I think) but I can’t recall any atm
