    Hi,

I’m trying to set my WordPress site live for the first time but as someone without a tech background I’m struggling a bit! When I go to my domain I can see the message:

“To upload your website into the /public_html folder of your SiteGround hosting account.”

I’ve set up the site, uploaded the theme and edited it etc. but how do I download and subsequently upload to SiteGround?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Alex

  • When you say “I’ve set up the site, uploaded the theme and edited it etc. “, where have you set it up and uploaded exactly?
If on you local environment (Wamp, Xamp, Mamp) then you need to upload it to Siteground using some FTP program. If you’ve done it to Siteground, then you haven’t put it into /public_html/ folder. You need to import the database as well.
You can use Siteground Softaculous installer (I belive it has it) to install default WordPress site and it might make the things a bit easier for yu.

    Thanks for your reply!

I set it up on WordPress (mysite.co.uk/wp-admin) which is why I’m confused – surely that should mean I don’t need to upload anything?

I’m very new to all this haha!

Ok, since I still don’t get exactly what you’re trying to do, let’s go step by step. ??
    If I visit mysite.co.uk/wp-admin I get
    Not Found

The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server.”

And if I visit only mysite.co.uk I get a blank screen. Therefore I suppose that’s not actually an url of your site?

You also say that you have hosting on Siteground. Can you tell me now what is the url of your future WordPress site that you’re trying to put on Siteground?

@alexcostanzo94 – Ivan Atanasov here, part the Senior Support team at SiteGround.

This looks like it is related to the installation directory of your WordPress installation.

Like @sinip said, you can post a ticket from your User Area and we will investigate the problem if you are still struggling with it.
