Bear with me, I’m a newbie from the Joomla world.

I have a WP site (theme is widgetized) for which I’d like to create an attractive sidebar.

In Joomla, I would simply create a Custom module and add anything I wanted in it, ie, a hyperlinked grahpic.

What is the typical method of doing this in WP? DO I need a widget?

    Thanks for any tips!
    Gilles

Text widgets can be used to add whatever HTML you want to include in your widget areas, similar to a custom module in Joomla. Simply drag a new text widget to the appropriate sidebar/widget area in Appearance > Widgets.

Great! Thanks Douglas! I just tried it.

I guess the big difference is that with the Joomla method, you get a wysiwyg editor and see what your doing instead of just sraight html code. Any such thing in WP?
