    I still recommend using MultilingualPress in your specific use case.

    Implementing the feature isn’t at all feasible, and better solutions are available that don’t rely on the hreflang attribute in the sitemap. The feature will take hundreds of hours to develop, will eat up your server’s resources without a real benefit, must be mindful of a plethora of use cases, and will ultimately greatly increase our support burden.
