• Hi, I’m using Wordfence and another extension for protection. I need disable two factor managed by Wordfence because cause issue with the extension shield security . I will use two factor from Shield Security and I wanna turn off the two factor of Wordfence from my all user profile but I don’t see an option to do that.

You should provide an option to turn off two factor not only as inactive but not showed in the users profiles. As in my case I need use two factor from another extension.

Any help to hide the Wordfence two factor from user profile? Thanks.

  • Sorry, no solution, just chiming in with support as I’ve just run into this myself.

My client wishes to use email for 2FA, which Wordfence no longer supports (I understand the reasoning, but clients be clients). So we’re now using a different 2FA solution, but it’s really confusing for them to now have both options available, which is terrible UX.

Wordfence really needs a simple toggle off in the settings to completely remove 2FA from all areas of the dashboard.

Hi @peopleinside, thanks for dropping us a message about this.

I’ve just gone ahead and tested this on my own site, and I can only get the “Wordfence Login Security” section on user profiles to show when 2FA is set to “Optional” or “Required” for that user’s level in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings > 2FA Roles.

When logged in as the administrative user, I can’t see it when editing a user profile where they have their role set to “Disabled”. I can however see it on my own account where it’s set to “Optional”. When I signed in as a user without a suitable role for 2FA, I didn’t see the Wordfence Login Security heading in the Profile page either.

If every user role is set to be disabled, and “Show Wordfence 2FA menu on WooCommerce Account page” along with “2FA management shortcode” are unchecked, I’d expect users not to see the option.

Let me know how you get on!
    Peter.

@wfpeter thanks for the answer. I can understand what the user @ben1098765 say. I also expect an option to disable 2 factor managed by WordFence but this seems is not possibile and never exist and it’s not good on my opinion.

If every user role is set to be disabled

Where this can be set in Wordfence?
in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings > 2FA Roles I see administrator role is present and I cannot remove so, I dont see Wordfence give the possibility to manage this easily.

If every user role is set to be disabled, and “Show Wordfence 2FA menu on WooCommerce Account page” along with “2FA management shortcode” are unchecked, I’d expect users not to see the option.

    I dont use WooCommerce.

@wfpeter 2 factor can be set disabled for other rules, not for admin so, this confirm Wordfence miss an option to allowing disabling 2 factor completely for all.

I desire to remove Wordfence as is too much intrusive in login functions. Message of password error etc are not translatable and now also the two factor for admin is forced and I cannot turn off this option.

Why you are so aggressive with login functions? Not all website are in English. In many mounts, even with the “help” of your support, was not possibile set an Italian error messages that works. Now I need disable the two factor and this is even impossibile. This is very bad, I agree with the user in this discussion.
