Hey, so I have a woocomerce store with a lot of products/categories I will give one example to make clear what I am trying to achieve.

You open category called Motorcycles which has 3 subcategories ( Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki ) each of these 3 subcategories have it own models which are added as attributes.

What I am trying to achieve is this: When someone opens the category Motorcycles they see all the categories Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki etc… but when they for example select Yamaha they see only the models Yamaha has not all the available models for the other brands. The same logic should be applied for different attributes available. ( Year, BHP, CC etc ).

As far as I understood Woocomerce is not capable of providing such solution at it core but I am happy to be corrected or provided with a paid plugin/solution.

    Thanks

  • Hi @alexdrone,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce Plugin Support. I understand that you want to hide product attributes/filters conditionally based on the selected subcategory. You are right that WooCommerce does not have this feature built-in, but there are some plugins that can help you achieve this functionality. One of them is Product Filter for WooCommerce. This plugin allows you to create and customize filters for your products using various criteria.

I hope this helps you solve your problem. If you have any questions or issues with these plugins, please let us know and we’ll be happy to assist you further.

Hi, I saw the plugin however the 2.5 star rating is worrying. I saw that most of the 1 stars are left long time ago but it would be nice if I can check a demo of the plugin. If there is a demo I can check I would definitely consider buying the plugin. Currently I am experimenting with Filter Everything, I managed to hide some attributes based on parent selections but as our ecommerce store will have around 10 000 products with a lot of categories and attributes working with Filter Everything is not a straight forward process. ??

    Hello alexdrone,

    Thank you for your reply.

I can understand that product reviews play a significant role in your decision-making process, and it’s great to hear that you are conducting thorough research before committing.

The Product Filter for WooCommerce plugin may not have a live demo available currently. However, you can rest assured that we stand by the quality of our products. We’re confident enough in our WooCommerce offerings that we provide a 30-day money-back guarantee.

If for any reason you are unhappy with the plugin after purchase, you have the option to request a refund as outlined in our refund policy, which you can review here:?https://woocommerce.com/refund-policy/.

Should you decide to proceed with the Product Filter for WooCommerce or if you have further questions, I am here to answer any other queries you may have.

    Best regards.

Thanks for the your response, I am just wondering if what I have described above is something Product Filters by Woocomerce will allow us to do. Basically to summarise: hide attributes based on previously selected attribute? So for example selecting Yamaha as attribute and show only the available models for the Yamaha?

    Thanks

    Hey, @alexdrone!

Just to confirm if I understood correctly: You currently have Yamaha (for example) as a category, and the filter works as you want it to (by only showing products on that category).

But what you want it to do as to be able to do the same thing with attributes, correct?

If this is correct, Product Filters for WooCommerce can do that. It can add filter by categories, attributes, tags, taxonomies, price, stock status.

As my colleague mentioned, it is an official plugin, so we are able to assist you if you need anything.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if there’s anything else we can help you with.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hey team, after going into the problem. My products have attributes only. So I have attributes make, model, year etc. The problem now is that I cannot show specific attributes based on first attribute selection. I understand why this happens and looking for solution which will allow me to manually display predefined attributes. For example when select Yamaha I will have to manually add Yzf-r1, yzf-r6 in the second dropdown model. Can you suggest me something or even if I am in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Hi @alexdrone,

The feature you’re looking for is called dependent attributes. This allows you to display specific attributes based on the selection of the first attribute. Unfortunately, WooCommerce doesn’t support this feature natively, but you can achieve it using custom code or a plugin like WooCommerce Product Add-Ons or Composite Products.

However, for more robust solution, you can also seek help from the following:

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.
