• Hello,

I installed a site as a subdomain to a hosting, but I can’t figure out how do I hide full subdomain from the status bar when website as loading.

And also how could I change image location, so it doesn’t display full subdomain address?

    Help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Why do you want to do this? What you want to do is possible in a few different ways, but the best way will depend on why you’re doing it and what you expect to achieve.

Two website are completely on different subject and I don’t want visitors to know that I have another website.

I hope I don’t have to buy a separate hosting plan to keep them separate.

So you’re using two separate domains, and not a sub-domain then? (I understand that it’s probably installed as a ‘sub-domain’ in your hosting control panel, but that’s a diferent thing)

That is easy to do. You need to point the new domain to your new site, and then use this tool to update all of the hard-coded URL’s in the database. Then you should be back to using two completely separate domains.

Both websites are currently accessible by website1.com and website2.com , because I set up redirect through WordPress settings, so that it displays website2.com instead of website2.website1.com as it is set up on the hosting.

Folder of website2 is inside the main folder which is website1.

But status bar still displays website2.website1.com when loading.

Should I still use the tool?

How do people deal with it while having multiple websites? Aren’t all additional websites set up as subdomains by default and then redirected? What’s the best practice?

    Thank you!

When you installed the site, did you install it as the second domain, or as the sub-domain? I already know the answer – you installed it as the sub-domain. That’s why all of the links, etc point back to the sub-domain URL.

The tool that I linked to above is exactly what you need to fix that.

When you say “additional websites” is this a Network (multisite) set up, or are you dealing with two separate installations? Two separate installations work with whatever URL’s you install then with, but a netowrk will work as a sub-folder or sub-domain staandard with an add on to set up the ability to use separate top-level domains.
