Hello all,

I am looking to figure out something thats been bugging me for a bit. Whenever someone sends a trackback to my blog, SevenStripes.com, it shows the blog title which is
“SevenStripes.com”, and not the story title to which they are linking, for example, “SevenStripes.com – War in Iraq blahblahblah”

Any ideas as to how I can rectify this issue?

the title on all your permalinks is your domain name :

<head profile="https://gmpg.org/xfn/11"> <title>SevenStripes.com</title>

I believe if you fix that, youll fix the trackback title

Anyone have any idea as to how I change this now? I’m clueless.

PS- whooami, where did you see that info, on index.php?

i saw it on your permalink pages. (thats why I mention them in my reply).

trackbacks are done to permalinks.. not your index.php.. what it displays is of no value to a trackback

Aha…

I added ‘<?php wp_title(); ?>’ into ‘<title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?></title>’ in my Header and it appears to have rectified the problem!

quick question: should this in any way affect my trackbacks?

I just tried to trackback to a site and didnt see my blog appear in their trackback list, although it might be their end thats sluggish or broken.

Nevermind the trackback issue, but hte problem is still the same, even though I thought I fixed it:

and you pinged that original post on hotair when? before or after you made the changes to your header?

i did some looking and I was correct in my posts above; Code that follows line 25 inside wp-trackback.php:

$request_array = 'HTTP_POST_VARS'; .... if ( !$_GET['tb_id'] ) { $tb_id = explode('/', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']); $tb_id = intval( $tb_id[ count($tb_id) - 1 ] ); } .... $tb_url = $_POST['url']; $title = $_POST['title']; $excerpt = $_POST['excerpt']; $blog_name = $_POST['blog_name']; $charset = $_POST['charset'];

in a nutshell, thats all the info sent in a trackback.. notice $title ??
