    Hello

I have a website and a clone one to test modifications on our website. I use duplicator plugin to create the clone. It means that both sites are using the same wordpress account linked to Jetpack.

Normally Jetpack has to be linked to production website. But sometimes (in case of upgrading jetpack plugin) Jetpack is linked to clone website. Consequence is for exemple that comments can’t be added to production website.

I disconnected and reconnect production website to account on wordpress.com as a quickfix. However I’m not satisfied because I lost all my stats.

Is there a process to use a website and a clone website with Jetpack ? And if Jetpack is not connected to the production site, is there a process to reconnect to the right one without losing statistics.

    Thanks for your help

I have currently an issue because I had this morning update Jetpack from 4.3 to 4.3.1 on my clone site and after on my real primary site.
This afternoon I have checked wordpress.com account. And primary account is wrong. It’s now linked to clone site. It means that comments can’t be added because it’s linked to clone site (because I use comments with Jetpack). I can see in firefox status bar.

I know how to fix. I have to disconnect jetpack and reconnect to the primary. But I will loose stats. It has alreary happens. And I don’t want to loose it again.

How can I reconnect without loosing stats ?
And then how to clone without jetpack issues ?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you post your site URL here? I’ll be able to bring your stats and followers back for you, and you’ll then be able to reconnect Jetpack on your production site.

If you want your site URL to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

how to clone without jetpack issues ?

I’d recommend adding a constant to your test site’s wp-config.php file, to declare it as staging site:
    https://jetpack.com/support/staging-sites/

That will stop that site from polluting your production site’s options.

    Primary site : https://www.live-sim.com
    Clone site : livesim2.myqnapcloud.com

It happens several time because I use duplicator without avoiding copying the jetpack_options row from the wp_options table in database. You will probably find several stats resets.

I don’t if this is too complicated to merge all my stats resets in a new one. Anyway it would be great to have my jetpack reconnected to primary site

    Thanks for your help.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I’ve made the necessary changes in your Jetpack settings. You should now be all set, no need to do anything with your production site.

However, to avoid any further issues, I’d recommend enabling Staging mode on your staging site as soon as you can.

Thanks to bring me back stats
I have enabled the staging mode on clone site from yesterda as you mentionned to me.

However when I look at https://wordpress.com/me/account primary site is still connecter to clone site (livesim2.myqnapcloud.com) instead real primary site (www.live-sim.com).

How can I change that ? Because for the moment comments can’t be added because it tries to add to livesim2 clone site.

I have made a disconnection from the clone and reconnect to the good primary site. Then I lost jetpack stats. I hope it will be the last time. Can you please merge the new stats to the old ones ?

I’ve made the switch once again. Once you reconnect you should be all set.

I would also recommend that you make sure your staging site is set as staging.

    please unsubsrcibe me

I disconnect and reconnect the primary site. All is ok. As you mentionned previously I have already made the modification for the clone site to be a staging one for 2 weeks. I’m confident this is good now, and I know how to create a clone site without loosing jetpack.
    Thanks for all
