How to handle sidebar

Hi I have a little problem with sidebar.
I have created a widget right sidebar and It works fine in my blog page where I use the default template.
Then I have create a custome template, that displays some data I retrieve from database.
In this page the right sidebar is displayed on the left part of the page: I think because there are not any “real” content, so It will displayed on the left side.
So How I can handle this without modifing the CSS? Is there a way perhaps to create an “empty” content in which I displayed the data from database? In this way the sidebar will be displayed in right side I suppose.
