I am currently working on a one page WordPress site and all is going well however, I also need to have a blog but because the site is generally just one page and uses menu anchors to move up and down the site, the blog page causes a problem.

On clicking the link to the blog, the normal menu does not of course work. Clicking any of the links does nothing because they are simple menu anchors, not links to pages.

So what I need is a separate menu that appears at the top of the blog page with just one item that when clicked will take people back to the main one-page site.

So is there a way to have a separate menu that only appears at the top of the blog page?

    Hello there,

Sorry, I’m a bit confused. How did you build the menu? You should be able to create different menus for different locations in WP Dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus.

    It’s the standard menu.

In any case, I have now found out that you cannot have a separate menu for a blog page. So I have reverted to a multi-page site rather than a single page. It is not as elegant but it does the job.
