How to get started? Upload product? Create pages?

If you are installing Easy Digital Downloads first time then it will automatically creates the necessary pages for you.

You can see plugin pages assigned at Plugin Settings > General Tab.

For your query,
1) I have a WooCommerce store setup. Will the digital products appear there?
Ans – No, It will not be display there. Woo Commerce and EDD both are different products.

2) where do I upload digital products and where will the checkout be displayed?
Ans – Once you install the plugin you can see “Downloads” menu in WordPress admin area. You can add your new product from there.

If you want to Import sample products then you can find sample XML file at “plugins/easy-digital-downloads/assets/sample-products-import.xml” plugin location.

To import the sample products navigate to Plugin Menu > Tools > Import/Export Tab > Import Download Products. You can import sample product file there.

What are examples of a sample product?

Is it the Download ID upload file for customer automatic downloads? I wanted to upload an ebook file.

Do I need to add & save the product page to my category menu (toolbar)? Since this product page needs to be visible, how does that work?

Also, can you please suggest any appointment booking app where people can purchase sessions that integrates well? Thanks

For your query,
1) What are examples of a sample product?
Ans – This file import some sample product for your understanding just how to create the product.

2) I wanted to upload an ebook file.
Ans – Yes, you can upload it from product add / edit screen.

3) Do I need to add & save the product page to my category menu (toolbar)? Since this product page needs to be visible, how does that work?
Ans – EDD product will work like same as your WordPress default post. Add some EDD products, do relevant settings like title, description, price, download file and etc within it.

Now create an page e.g shop and add the shortcode [edd_downloads] in it.

You can assign single products to your site menu also form WordPress menu screen.

THanks again! I haven’t been able to try the shortcode yet because the upload is not working.

I tried a standard pdf file (100.9 mb) for an ebook and it shows the file is too large. It’s only 10 pages. What do I do? The standard pdf was the smallest size available on the design site I am using…

Also, how are payment taken? And, how do I receive payments?

For your query,

Ans – Your ebook size is quite large 100 MB. The upload process depends on server configuration. Please navigate to WordPress Media > Add New. At there you can see the maximum upload size.

You can contact your hosting provider to increase the upload file limit OR As it is a large file you can upload this file within WP-CONTENT dir via FTP and put it file path to EDD product download file section.

2) How are payment taken? And, how do I receive payments?
Ans – EDD has some built-in payment gateways like PayPal and etc. You can check some other Payment Gateways from their site like Stripe and etc.

Go to Plugin Settings > Payment tab. Activate your desired payment gateway and configure it.

For example if you configure PayPal then the amount of purchase from your site will be transferred to your PayPal account and PayPal will send you money to your linked bank account.
