• Hi,

I was searching for a way to fix a website, to show the latest posts, because for some reason it won’t show the latest ones (moreover it got all mixed up). And found this suggestion of installing WP Super Cache. Apparently, after installation, it just gave an error..

Warning! /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/advanced-cache.php does not exist or cannot be updated.

    1. If it already exists please delete the file first.
    2. Make /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content writable using the chmod command through your ftp or server software. (chmod 777 /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content) and refresh this page. This is only a temporary measure and you’ll have to make it read only afterwards again. (Change 777 to 755 in the previous command)
    3. Refresh this page to update /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/advanced-cache.php
If that doesn’t work, make sure the file /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/advanced-cache.php doesn’t exist:
    1. Open /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/advanced-cache.php$wp_cache_file in a text editor.
    2. Change the text CACHEHOME to /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/
    3. Save the file and copy it to /var/www/html/mncreatives/wp-content/advanced-cache.php and refresh this page.

    Now, I’m scared. ??

What is that? I’m no coding/developer wizard. I need help.

Same here. And it’s super frustrating. ?? Please help us!

There are some articles on the net about it.

First, connect to your site via FTP and change the name of the wp-super-cache folder in plugins folder. Your site should be back as the cinfig file will not find the folder where the plugin is.

I had the same issue with the plugin and this worked for me. The only thing I could not cope with was deleting the lines in .htaccess file – when I did it, the site went blank again so I decided to leave the file as is.

    Hi @jfk65

First, connect to your site via FTP and change the name of the wp-super-cache folder in plugins folder. Your site should be back as the cinfig file will not find the folder where the plugin is.

How to do this? Sorry, I’m not really super techie when it comes to this ans some jargons. ??

You should have a program which is an FTP client (for instance Total Commander). You need to have the login and the password to your site to access the files through FTP (ask your administrator). After you have connected to your site thru FTP, find plugins folder. In that folder you will see all folders of your wordpress plugins. Among them you will find wp-super-cache folder. Change its name to wp-super-cache_x for example then refresh your site.

I have the username and password, what is this “Host name [:Port]” ?

    host is probably your domain
you know your login and pass
    use passive mode for transfer

    Hi @jfk65

I was able to get rid of the WP Super Cache plugin. Thanks. Now, I will have to get the latest post to work and show up on top because that’s the reason I installed WP Super Cache.
