I use custom structure for permalinks: /%category%/%postname%/ so my article URLs looks perfect domain name/category/article

    BUT

when I go to category page its shown as category/category-name/

I want it just to be /category-name.

    To make it more clear:
    Problem: abc.com/category/parks
I want it to be: abc.com/parks

Interesting because article’s url is fine abc.com/parks/central-park.

How do i get rid of /category/?

  • Go to Settings > Permalinks and set the category base to “.” (without quotes). This will work in your case or in any other case if there is something before the /%postname%/ in the permalink structure.

Yes it works but I have an automated message under each post “This entry was posted in “category name” and it redirects to the old url which gives 404. I guess I will need to do a bunch of redirects ….
