How to get drop down menu items linked to be purchased in shop

Hi, I am a newbie and do not know code so please speak to me in laymans terms ?? I am learning by forums, videos etc. I am using virtue theme and I have several different types of products that I am selling on my website so I want to be able to split them up into drop down menus to make it easier for customers to select the things they want to look at and buy. For example I sell Body care products and also jewelry. I don’t want them to have to go through all shop products (in woocommerce) that just lumps every single product together with no way of sorting. A person who wants to look at perfumes for instance and does not want to sort through all the jewelry.How I tried to handle this was by doing menus in the secondary navigation menu.

I followed instructions on how to set up the menus and it looks nice but the problem I am having is that when you select the product in the drop down menu, it just pulls up that product image in a lightbox with no way to purchase it. It will not link to a shopping page or allow the customer to buy it. There must be a way to allow each image listed to have it’s own shop link. Right now it’s like I have great menus and a shop but they are not linked together in a way that is effective.

For example under Jewelry, accessories & supplies menu heading, the drop down goes to necklaces etc: I have various styles but when a person clicks on the necklace of interest it pulls up an image only. how do I put the specific shop link that matches the link it has under shop products?
