This plugin works on the majority or WordPress installations without the need of an API key, however some server configurations prevent the plugin from reading the local fonts file bundled with the plugin. Either way I recommend taking the time to get an API key as it enables Automatic Background font updates in the Easy Google Fonts plugin.

Here is how to obtain a Free Google API Key:

    • Visit console.developers.google.com
    • Create a new project
    • Click APIs Under the APIs & auth menu
    • Turn on Web Fonts Developer API
    • Click Credentials under the APIs & auth menu
    • Create a new browser key and leave the referrer box empty
    • Copy and paste the google api key into the plugin admin screen (Log into your WordPress admin area, go to: Settings > Google Fonts and click the Advanced tab).

If you have any issues please start a new thread in the support forum. Cheers

  • I got your plugin some time ago but the changes I make in the font haven’t worked. FIRST I make the changes, THEN, I check to see if the changes worked in the preview window and they did. BUT, when I open a completely new search engine window and go to the same page, it doesn’t show the changes at all.

I searched through the support forum for this plugin and came across this set of instructions and completed it. It still is doing the same thing, do you have suggestions?

    Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way for the Network Administrator to apply an API key for the entire network, instead of having the individual blog admins do it.

    This would be really useful.

    Thanks for your hard work!
