  • It all depends, you haven’t given anyone much information here to go on.

Generically formatting on websites is done via CSS , start here

    and here

I am of course aware about CSS.
This is a very generic answer and now it appears that my question looks like it is answered. I think I have to ask again.

To others: again, please read my question, and if you are interested in answering, simplym, specifically tell me how can I format the text I entered on a wordpress page or post, without directing me to somewhere else like : “study internet”

As it is clearly understood from my original question, how can I format the text? (for example Is there a button? Where? How can I change text color, size and font?) That’s all I am asking…. Can someone give me a solution I can implement in a few minutes, or there is nothing like that and anyone who wants to type text in a different format than default, must study theme writing for 3 years?

You have given no information for any volunteers here to go on.

Sorry my answer did not meet your expectations.

With WordPress there are thousands of themes and dozens of page builders along with custom coded sites.

Whilst your you may think your question is clear, it can not be more specifically answered without further detail.

    What theme?
Are you using a page builder?

A screen shot or screen recording of what you are trying to do ( you can link to them ) could help other volunteers give you more specific advice.

My question is very simple and clear. how do you format the text as you type it. That’s all. Let’s say you are typing a post on wordpress. How do you make one word look green? How do you change its font? size? That’s all I am asking, as it is clearly understood.

What you suggest is formatting post or page format from CSS that will apply to all posts or pages. I am not asking that, as in my original question, there is no mention of that.

Although it doesn’t matter, I am using a default theme, 2022. I did not make any change to that theme whatsoever. This site has just started. No I am not using page builder. Again that is irrelevant. That is for formatting and organizing whole pages. I am talking about typing content of a post or page as I asked originally.

    Generally speaking, you don’t.

This is a website. It’s not like Microsoft Word. While you can do things like change font color, size, things like that, you generally don’t do it in the middle of a sentence or a paragraph, or something like that.

There are a lot of reasons for this, and I could go into details like the “semantic web” and things like that, but suffice it to say that WordPress generally does not include things like this by default.

Now, with some themes there is a selection of things like color, sizes, things like that. And that will be available in the block editor on the right side of the screen. However, those will apply mainly to blocks as a whole, as opposed to a few words in the middle of a sentence. Themes have the power to add things like this to the editor and have things like style variations so that they are unified with the other aspects of the page.

And, of course, plugins are available that add different blocks. And some of those will have such options. Fonts in particular is a common plugin enabled thing.

However, most themes want to look good on the page. And that means tying styles together as a whole. So ideally they don’t give you the tools to make your site look like a 20 year old geocities page. But again CSS can be edited and you can do anything you wanna do, including make it look really, really stupid. Just maybe not as easily as clicking a button.

You cn do a lot of that with a standard block

Hi! Are you familiar with markdown? With markdown you are formatting while you are typing. There is also plugins integrating markdown to WordPress.

    Another option is restructured text.

Hi! Are you familiar with markdown?

We are familiar with markdown. In fact, the block editor somewhat supports it.

If you type markdown into the block editor, it automatically reformats as you type it. Mostly. It supports simple markdown, such as quotes and titles and things like that.
