How to format posts, some with multiple inages, nicely?

I would like to be able to format blog posts more or less like they would appear on a magazine or html page. My current posts are displaying images on a new line. Text does not flow around them and they are all aligned to the left. I need the ability to control text alignment and to insert multiple thumbnail images and have text flow nicely around them. Sometimes I have multiple images of the same subject which would be best displayed together in a container, perhaps with a control to scroll or click through them. The images inserted into the posts would be thumbnails so there would need to be some facility for opening a full size image from them which could be displayed in a way that would not obscure the post, yet always be positioned for the reader to view and be conveniently dismissed after viewing.
