How to “forget” remote backups?

    I just made a fresh WordPress installation, and then restored on it a site from a Google Drive remote backup. In order to do that, I had to give Updraft permissions to access that Google Drive (obviously).

    Now, the problem is that I also use that Google Drive to store backups of other sites, so now I have listed in my Updraft page all the backup sets in the remote storage. How can I make Updraft “forget” all the existing backup sets in the Google Drive? I tried deleting credentials and authenticating again, but it didn’t work. Actually, I even tried deleting Updraft and installing it again, but it didn’t work either.

    Hi,

    You can deselect the remote storage in the “Settings” tab. Make you click the “Save changes” button after to apply the new settings.

    Thanks for the answer… but, what if I want to keep using that same Google Drive to store my backups? That is: I want Updraft to “forget” about all the existing backups in the remote drive, but use it for my backups in the future.

    I just tried doing what you said: deselect Google Drive, save changed, select Google Drive again and save changes. The previous backups are still there.

    Hi,

    If you to reset, there is a wipe settings option in the “Advance Tools” tab.

    If I do that, I get the following error. The Google Drive credentials seem to get deleted (there is no remote storage selected), but the old list of backups are still there. And if I authenticate to Google Drive again… well, the list of backups stay there.

    Forgot to add: this is all with the latest versions of WordPress (5.5.1) and Updraft.

    Please can you re-install UpdraftPlus? Seems like it got corrupted.

    I uninstalled Updraft Plus, went into the hosting site, deleted the /wp-content/updraft/ directory, and then reinstalled… and the old backups are still there. I then tried to delete settings in “Advanced Tools” (in the new Updraft install), and got the same error.

    Hi,

    Can you try to temporarily deactivate the other plugins and see if you still get the same issue?

    It’s a test install. The only other plugins I had were Woocommerce and WPML (I hadn’t even started to configure anything yet). I disabled all of them, tried… and the same thing happens.

    Just to recap, your issue right now is you’re still seeing the backups in the “Backup/Restre” tab? Is that correct?

    Are you still seeing these messages too?

    Yes to both. The error messages are what I get when I try to use that “delete settings” option that you mentioned (and the settings don’t get erased either).

    Hi,

    For this, “still seeing the backups in the “Backup/Restre” tab” can you go to wp-content/updraft folder and delete all the backup in there. After that click the rescan local storage to update the backup list.

    For the second error message, may I know what plugin version do you currently have please?

    Um, I already did that before reinstalling the plugin. See:

    Anyway, I went again to the wp-content/updraft. The only two files in there were index.html and web.config. I had a look at them, and they didn’t have any config data, but just in case I deleted them and then rescanned the local storage. Nothing; the old backups are still there.

    As for software versions: I already mentioned that I’m using the latest versions of WordPress (5.5.1) and Updraft (1.16.29). What I didn’t mention is that I’m running PHP 7.2. What’s the minimum supported version of PHP for this plugin? I just had a look at the requirements page, and didn’t see anything.

    Hi,

    The issue about the backups still being retained is quite weird. Can you try access your website using incognito mode? Maybe you are just seeing cached version of the page.

    I tried doing so. I also tried opening Developer Tools in Chrome and using the “empty cache and force reload” option. Nothing.

    When I have time, I’ll try removing the backups from the actual Google Drive and then rescanning, to see what happens.
