• Hi all,

I have a strange problem. Some of my embedded sites, when clicking on the image, will open in a new tab, and others will not.

I want all of them opening in a new tab. The embed code is the automated WP ‘figure’ tag.

Is there a way, or multiple ways, to make this happen? It’s such a simple function with non embedded links, you just add “target=_blank”, but with WP embeds, I don’t know what to do.

I have searched for days now looking at WP embed guides and posts and can’t find anyone offering a solution for this, or even asking the same question.

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Hi @spaceboy909 you can add image with a hyperlink and use image source link with “target=_blank”. You don’t need a 3rd party plugin for this use-case.

Thanks, I may have to start doing it that way. The embed feature is just so quick and easy but it’s missing that one option which is a bummer & I don’t understand why that option would be included.

The embedded video and audio isn’t a problem because that will just play right on my page, but when it’s just a site, most of them open in the same page, but your suggestion would work, but it will be a little extra work and also the storage space will add up to a large amount after awhile. Could get into the gigs after years of it, so I’m not sure what I want to do, but it’s at least an option.
