How to fix plugin table too many rows issue?

  • Hello!

    I use an UPdraftplus plugin to backup my blog. It shows Redirection plugin has too many rows warning as a result of that, it takes too much time to backup. This is not the UpDraft plus issue.

    Here is the warning message!

    Warning: Table xxxxxx_redirection_404 has very many rows (319638) – we hope your web hosting company gives you enough resources to dump out that table in the backup

    How do I reduce this plugin rows?

  • Easiest way: empty the table.

    Best way: go through the 404 logs, fix any 404s that need fixing, once done, empty the table.

    The 404 log is meant to be used as an information tool for you to set up redirections where needed.

    If you don’t use it, why not just turn it off ?
    Redirection -> Modules -> 404 -> Edit -> uncheck log checkbox
