I found that the field with automatic locality detection using Google Maps stopped working – instead, when entering the name, it shows an error. When clicking on the link, about 10 possible reasons open, among which I do not see mine.

There is the following error on your site when trying to use the Google Maps API

You must enable Billing on the Google Cloud Project at https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/billing/enable Learn more at https://developers.google.com/maps/gmp-get-started

    Places API error: BillingNotEnabledMapError

Do I understand correctly: using the Google Maps service is paid?

After using the monthly free limit, yes.

Is there any way to replace it?

No, we don’t have an option to replace it as all the API that allow geolocating are paid and Google API is the cheapest one plus every month they will grant you $200 in free credits.

You will probably not go above this limit if you have a small site and use the API in the Publish form only.
