A newbie to Tooltips here. How can I exclude tooltips from my navigation and allow it to find the content only in the page content area. The word “fiduciary” is picked up in the navigation and I would like it to be picked up in the second to the last paragraph, first sentence. I’m working in the site builder, Beaver Builder, by the way.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I am going to answere my own post since the plugin author is unresponsive and there might be others who want to sort this issue out. YES… you can eliminated tooltips from navigation and headings. But it’s perhaps not how the plugin was meant to be used. You can disable tooltips from from the page or post using the plugin’s disable check box. Then you can manually use shortcode to place in the tooltips you want within the content areas of your page or post. Tooltip shortcode looks like this as an example for “fiduciary.”

[tooltips keyword=”fiduciary” content=”The ethical obligation to act solely in someone else’s best interest (i.e., putting the client’s interest ahead of the advisor’s). “]

It does work as the shortcode is using the jQuery in the plugin. It’s just that the plugin is really much more robust and can find ALL instances of glossary terms. In my situation, it’s undesirable to have tooltips on my navigation and heads.

The plugin author provides a page of shortcodes for use in WordPress here: https://tooltips.org/lists-of-how-to-use-wordpress-tooltip-shortcode/

    Hi @sbstarr,

    Thanks for the message ??

We are very happy to help you ??

We have checked your site and replied you a few days before since you contact us ??

I guess “my navigation” meant wordpress menu? If so, in general, wordpress tooltips plugin will follow wordpress the_content API to hook post content and add tooltip pop for tooltip terms which in wordpress post content, but tooltip free version will not add tooltip to wordpress menu, because wordpress menu API is different with wordpress post API, if you are using tooltip pro version, you can just disable tooltip for menu in option box ??

I guess might you meant wordpress post title? If so in wordpress tooltip “Global Settings” menu, you will find “Disable Tooltips in H1,H2….Link” option, you can add your html tag in here to disable tooltip

Of course, there are another method is just like you mentioned, you can use tooltips shortcode to do it too ??

If you have any more question, you are very welcome to contact us via https://tooltips.org/contact-us

Thanks, have a happy day with your family ??

Thank you wesupport!I missed the “Optional Settings” area of the Pro plugin which offers a disable feature for HTML heads, and classes. I think this is the key I was missing. Yay! Just FYI… as you guide users, the Global Settings and Optional Settings are on a stand alone screens.

    Thanks again.
