    Hello everyone!

New to the WordPress forums and WordPress itself and need some help!

I recently had an SEO report done on my website and one of the biggest things noticed was that my Meta Description was empty. Now, I thought I had that done but I’m guessing that’s not the case? In any event, I was wondering exactly how I edit/create the Meta Description? Thank you for any and all help!

    Hey Joey,

You could manually enter a meta description in your theme’s header.php file that would be applied to all of your pages (not ideal).

Or, you could use a plugin to set the description for each page / post. I believe Yoast’s SEO Plugin allows you to do this:

    Hey Anthony,

I actually have the Yoast SEO plugin installed, I’m just not sure how to edit the description for each page/post. Do you know how I would do that or where I would go to do that? Thank you again, I truly appreciate any and all help!

For any page or post, you should see a “WordPress SEO by Yoast” box underneath the main content area. Once expanded, you’ll see a placeholder to enter a Meta Description under the General tab. (atleast for version 5.4.3)
