How to enable abandoned cart emails

    Hi,

    How do I enable abandoned cart emails?

    When I try to enable this customer journey on Mailchimp I am told “You’ll need to upgrade your plan to turn on a customer journey map.”

    However, according to the plugin description this is free (“Set up marketing automations to remind customers about items they left in their cart or viewed on your site, win back lapsed customers, and follow up post-purchase. (Now available for free accounts!)”).

    Hi, James

    It is still possible to setup single step Automations for free users. And if you’re looking to create an abandoned cart, this can be done via “Classic Automations”

    This is done from the Customer Journey’s page you’ll see a prompt in the upper right corner of the screen that says Go to Classic Automations. There, you’ll find a option to turn on an abandoned cart email.

    It turns out the classic automation option was disabled on my account so the prompt in the upper right corner of the screen was missing. I guess Mailchimp are trying to push customers to their paid automations option instead.

    I followed this link to access the classic automations and it re-enabled it on my account: https://admin.mailchimp.com/campaigns/#/create-campaign/explore/emailCampaign:custom

    The “Classic Automation” option now appears on the Customer Journey’s page as you described.

    Hopefully this is useful to others.
