• I apparently have a edit function on my static homepage. If someone clicks on it the it opens up the editor to edit my homepage. How do I get rid of this?

  • Can you link your site please?

Does the link lead to the wp-admin area, where you are logged in as an admin?

    Thanks.

it is on localhost and yes it goes to my page in my admin area

I can’t really offer a solution without being able to inspect the code or know what theme you’re using, but if a user is directed to the admin area and isn’t logged in (or is logged in but not as an administrator) then they can’t access your back-end in the way that you, an admin, can.

You can go through your theme files to find something relevant, if the link is at the top of your page then it could be within the header.php (or added via a function that is hooked into the header).

    Hope this helps.

I am using the twenty-sixteen theme and it is in the middle of the page when you view the homepage

That doesn’t sound right, there is no such link to the admin in the middle of any page on that theme by default.

What template are you using to create your static homepage, have you inspected the code within the template file you’re using?

Like I say, its impossible for me to help without it being something I can inspect because it doesn’t feature within the theme by default.

It opens up the editor for the homepage. The word edit is not on the edited homepage but it appears on the screen when you visit the site. When you click on the word edit on the sites homepage it opens up the page called home for editing.
