    Hi,
I tested a purchase on my website after updating my PayPal plugin on WooCommerce. On the Thank You page, I noticed that my email address is incorrect. I thought I’d be able to find the page again to change it, but I can’t. Research online indicates that this page can’t be edited. I can’t find a Page listed anywhere and I’ve searched every option in the WooCommerce area that I could see.
Any advice on how to change this?
    Thanks!

    Hi @dd466 ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you would like to customize your “Thank you” page.

To the best of my knowledge, your email address displayed on the thank you page is not the default WooCommerce behavior. It isn’t immediately clear where your email address comes into play on the thank you page, if you could kindly share a screenshot of what you are seeing in order for me to have a better understanding?

Snipboard.io?is recommended for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.

Additionally, below is an article on how the “Thank you” page can be customized:

    Thanks!

I’m seeing my email address on the Thank You page. Using Storefront.

You should be able to change your email address at:
My Account / Account Details on the public pages.

    Hi Roxanne S,
Unfortunately, I can’t find that page again. I guess I could “purchase” something from myself again – for like $1. I was hoping there was an easy way to find the page somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Dana

    Hi Lorro,
Sorry if this seems obvious, but what do you mean by “public pages”? There’s nothing about accounts on my list of the pages on my website. Also, I’m not familiar with Storefront. I’m using WooCommerce and I have the Avada theme.
    Thanks,
    Dana

Themes behave the same in this respect.

Public pages are those which visitors see, not the admin/dashboard pages.

When WooCommerce is installed, it makes some default pages. One of which is the My Account page. It will be in the list of pages unless someone has deleted it.

To remake it, make a blank page containing the shortcode:
    [woocommerce_my_account]
and then tell WooCommerce where it is:
Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced tab – Page setup section

Put your My Account page in your menu somewhere so visitors can find it.

The page allows users to change their email and other details, and see their orders.

The page will only show on the site if the current user is logged in as a customer or an admin.

    Hi Lorro,

Yes, I did find the My Account page. I had looked at that before, and I see it does say at the top “Need assistance?” and lists my phone & email. When I’m in “Edit Page” however, it only shows, like you mentioned:
    [woocommerce_my_account]

So there must be somewhere where I could delete that email address. Do you know where that might be? I am in the process of getting rid of that email address due to a nightmare scenario of spammers using it to spam people. I’ve updated it in WordPress, but somehow the My Account page is not reflecting this.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Dana

    Hi Dana,

Not sure where the order received page is pulling your email from as I was unable to replicate what you described on this topic.

With a clean installation of WordPress, WooCommerce, and the default Storefront theme the only email shown on the order received page is the email entered by the customer at checkout. It also appears in the billing and shipping addresses on the thank you page.

You could hide the email with the CSS display property (display: none;) – more details here: https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_display_visibility.asp.

Feel free to share a screenshot of the thank you page after placing a test order indicating the element you want to remove, and share also a link to your website. We’d be happy to take a closer look.

    Cheers.

Spammers can put any email address they like in the “from” field. If the email address no longer exists, they can still use it. There’s another field in email headers where the email actually comes from. People won’t see the real “from” address unless they know where to look. So getting rid of your old email address won’t help you stop spammers using it to apparently send stuff from.

Logged-in customers can change their email in the My Account page – there should be an “Account Details” sub page to do this. Admins can change their email at
Dashboard > Users > Profile – Customer Billing Address section

Its a required field so you’ll not be able to have a blank email.

The Thank you page and the My Account pages are only visible to logged in users, so spammers won’t be able to harvest emails from those pages because they are protected by the customer’s password.

On publically visible pages, yes, its not a good idea to show an email because spammers will find it and send spam to it. There’s an obfuscation Javascript that can be used for that case.

    Hi Mirko,

Here is a screenshot of the “My Account” page when I was logged into WordPress:

    https://snipboard.io/EGJLND.jpg

This shows the email address that I am going to decommission due to spam. I hope this works with the snipboard – I’ve never tried that before – very cool! When I did the test order, this is what showed at the top of the page – just like this with the phone & email address after “Need Assistance?” Maybe this has to do with the Avada theme, which is the one I use.

Trying to edit the My Account page didn’t work – it didn’t allow any changes and didn’t actually show any content in the text area – only the name of the WooCommerce template.

Regarding CSS, I did learn it years ago when I made my first website in HTML, but I have to say I’ve forgotten almost everything! I’m not a web designer, but just a business owner who does her own website (with some help).

    Here’s a link to my website: https://sonomabodybalance.com/

    Thank you,

    Hi Lorro,

Yes, I learned about that trick that spammers use. Very frustrating! They have ruined my email deliverability for that address, plus they’re spamming me with it too! So I do need to get rid of that address, but I realize I can’t stop the spammers from still using it ??

In the Dashboard I went into Users/Profile/Customer Billing Address – and it showed a different email address, not the one shown on the screenshot I posted above.

I won’t be listing an email address on the My Account or Thank You page anymore if I can figure out how to get rid of it!

    Thanks a lot,
    Dana

    Hey @dd466

The portion of the My account page does not form part of the default My account page by the WooCommerce plugin.

You would need to ‘edit the page with Avada’ since it’s more of a website builder, to disable that portion. However, we do not give support for the third-party plugins, you may need to contact them.

Alternatively, you could consider using a plugin to edit the page. We have Customize My Account Page for WooCommerce – check it to see if it is something you can consider and create a presales ticket with us if you have any questions about it.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Daniel,
Thank you for that information. I again went to the “My Account” page in Avada, but I tried the “Avada Live” method of editing, which I never use. I did finally find a place where that email address was listed! And I was able to delete it. Phew. I appreciate your help, and the suggestions of everyone else, which helped me to eventually resolve this!
    Take care,
    Dana
