How to edit the slug of a Frontpage?

  • I am using a static Page for my site’s Frontpage.

    I can’t edit a Page’s slug, if it is set as a Frontpage.
    The Edit button for the slug is there for every other Page, except for the Frontpage.
    Why?
    How can I get the slug for the Frontpage too?

  • You can’t edit the slug of your static front page. It doesn’t really have one. By it’s very nature of being the front page it has to sit at whatever your site’s url is.

    ^ I understand this but doesn’t it have it’s own name?
    For example: the front page of “regular” sites is index.html
    It doesn’t matter if index.html loads automatically with the domain, it still has a name of its own.

    Pages in WordPress aren’t actual files with their own names, they’re just database entries. WordPress looks at the url requested and dynamically pulls the needed information for a specific page/post.

    If you explain why you want the slug for the front page I’m sure I can try to help with that.

    I need the slug for the Frontpage for building Backlinks to my website.
    I guess just using the URL of the site will be OK?

    Yes, if you’re looking to give/show links to pages, then using just your site’s url will give you your static front page.
