    Hope you can help…

Whenever I hit “enter” on visual editor, I automatically get a double space. I know I can use shift+Enter, but this site is for my daughter and I’d really like to resolve this issue by editing the stylesheet.

    The site is: kundaliniyogini.co.uk

As you’ll see from the site, I’m not exactly a WP pro – but I know the basics. If someone can help me identify the code I need to look for and what it should be replaced with to stop this double-spacing issue, I’d be most grateful!

    Thanks in advance

  • We really need to see some examples of this double-spacing first. It’s probably a CSS issue.

Hi Esmi and thanks for your reply.

Here is a test post that shows what’s going on…

I’ve edited font colours on the stylesheet, but don’t know enough about CSS code to resolve this problem on my own.

    Thanks!

It’s not a CSS issue per se. Those lines are actually individual paragraphs. Which editor are you using – HTML or Visual?

Visual. I added a plug-in – Ultimate TinyMCE – as my daughter doesn’t know any HTML code.

Try deactivating that plugin and see what happens.

Problem is still there, I’m afraid.

And that’s with that editor plugin? Are you also pressing Shift when you press Enter?

The second post (Test 2) is with Ultimate TinyMCE deactivated. I also quit & cleared cache before I tried again. Problem is still there.

Yes, when I press Shift + Enter, then I get a single line. But I have a few other WP sites, and there’s no need to do this. Just as when I’m typing this reply, it assumes single-line spacing unless I press “Enter” twice.

There’s definitely a problem somewhere, but I have no idea how to locate/fix it.

OK – let’s try some drastic troubleshooting. Try:

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Problem is still there with Twenty Eleven, and I went into PhpMyAdmin on my CPanel, entered a:0:{} on the Plug-Ins Row, went back into the site – and the problem is still there.

I think I’ve taken up enough of your time, Esmi. It looks like this problem doesn’t want to go away. ??

Can we see a test page when the site is using Twenty Eleven?

Esmi, the problem is gone now. I think I had to quit my browser and do a complete restart after the PhpMyAdmin move – but when I tested in in Twenty Eleven again, the double spacing problem was gone.

I switched back to the Crucial theme, and it’s behaving there as well.

    Problem resolved!

Thank you so much for your expertise and patience.

Glad I could help in some way. ??
