How to edit <title> display?

I’m having in my title display on top of the website a | – it looks like <title>| MYHOMEPAGE</title>. How to remove this | ?
Template is “vigilance” template, but probably it hat to be corrected in the wordpress installation?
Thanks for any help, I’m working on this since weeks!
