  • It looks like a sidebar widget. Did you try going to Appearance → Widgets to see if it’s there?

Thanks a million I hadn’t been aware of widgets. I still can’t see the two links “what’s new” and “more news”…………..

Do you see any widgets in the sidebar area? The widget might be called something like a Recent Posts.

Yes I have found the recent posts but I don’t see either of the two links. I looked under “links” but don’t see the text

Not sure what to tell you. Are you trying to update the links in the Recent Posts? You could probably replace the Recent Posts widget with a Text widget and add the HTML that you want. What are you ultimately trying to put in there?

Really appreciate your patience. The two links “what’s new” “more news” are incorrectly linked ( If you click on them you will see ). So I either have to change the links ( if I can find them ) and make them work or delete the links.
    Thanks again

OK, let’s try to replicate the widget with the links you need, and then you can remove the original widget.

Drag a Text widget into the sidebar under the Recent Posts widget.

In the Title field, enter What’s New.

In the Content field, copy & paste this:

<strong><a href="https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/test" title="On line tutoring throughout the year!" >On line tutoring throughout the year!</a></strong>
<p class="whats-new-excerpt">We are now offering on line tutoring throughout the year!!!

    Book your session now!!!

    <a href="https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/test" title="On line tutoring throughout the year!" > Read More</a>
    </p>
    <p class="more_news"><a href="https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/about-us" title="More news">More news</a></p>

Make changes to the links. Click the Save button and take a look. Don’t worry if the appearance isn’t exactly right, we can fix that using CSS.

Many many thanks I will get onto this and report back

    The web site is
    https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/about-us
I added a new text as you said but called it “what’s new latest” for clarity.
I don’t see the link symbol but I want the text to link to
    https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/new-booking
Could you tell me where to put that?
Also I see a note saying that to delete a text drag it??
    We are getting there!!

There are two links in the text, one which reads On line tutoring throughout the year! and the other which reads Read more. Which link is it that you want changed? Or do you want both changed? If both, then change this text:

    https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/test

To your new link. Or, just replace the Content field with this:

<strong><a href="https://www.theelenchusinstitute.com/new-booking" title="On line tutoring throughout the year!" >On line tutoring throughout the year!</a></strong>
<p class="whats-new-excerpt">We are now offering on line tutoring throughout the year!!!

Not sure what or where you are seeing this, but once you have your new text widget the way you want it, you can drag off the Recent Posts widget from the sidebar.

Brilliant!!! Many thanks for all your assistance and patience!!! I have amended the text and the links work fine. I just have to figure out how to get rid of the two small blue boxes now that I have deleted some text. The site is really slow at the minute so will have to wait before I can get back in

Those last two boxes are caused by the empty links that you’ve left in the content. Just delete those two empty links, i.e., take out everything after “Book your session now!!!”

It now looks exactly as I want it………Once again many thanks for your time and patience.

Have marked the topic as resolved.
    Many, many thanks once again

You’re welcome, glad it was an easy fix.
