Does anybody know how to downgrade from 2.01 to 2.0? I have backed up everything. Do you need to install 2.0 all over again or should I just replace the new files with old ones?

I’m sorry, but why on earth would you want to do that? v2.0 had quite a few bugs and so 2.0.1 was released to address those issues.

Yes but I never had any problems with 2.0 until I upgraded it to 2.01

Well how about we try to fix the issues you’re having instead? ??

    Please describe them.

I am consistently getting these types of error messages

WordPress database error: [Lost connection to MySQL server during query]
    SELECT comment_post_ID as post_id, COUNT(comment_ID) as comment_count, comment_approved FROM wp_comments GROUP BY comment_post_ID

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/s/o/y/soyola/html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:102) in /home/content/s/o/y/soyola/html/wp-admin/post.php on line 122

WordPress is reporting that while it was talking to the database, it lost the connection. To me, that sounds like a host issue, but I could be wrong.

Unless someone can think of something else that’d be causing this, I’d contact your host.

Yes there was another person who was reporting similar problems but nobody responded to his message. My question is we didn’t had this problem until this latest upgrade. I am pretty certain it’s not host related.

It’s funny because I was looking back my old posts and realized that your posts helped to convince to upgrade and now I am having this problem. Do you remember this ?

So does anybody know how to downgrade it from 2.01 to 2.0?

    viper007bond

    (@viper007bond)

Hehe, ouch. Well in my defense, 99.99% of people who upgraded didn’t have any problems. ??

And I’d still contact your host as nothing has changed in wp-db.php (the database interface script) in many, many months:

(except for a recent change and that was after v2.0.1 was released)

I would like to change it back to 2.0 and try to upgrade it later

So does anybody know how to downgrade it from 2.01 to 2.0?

If you’re sure that’s really what you want to do (I still don’t think it’s the right thing to do, but it’s not my blog, so…), then doing the following will PROBABLY do it, however WordPress is not designed to be downgraded, so it may not work 100% right.

And I say probably because when you upgraded to v2.0.1, it may have made changes to the database that would actually need to be undone in order to run v2.0, but since it was a minor version change, probably not.

    Anyway…

    1. Backup your database.
    2. Make sure you backed up your database.
    3. Delete all WordPress files except for your wp-content directory.
    4. Upload the WP2.0 files.

I think that’s it. However, WordPress still may report that you’re using v2.0.1 in some places as it may be stored in the database, but you’ll be using the v2.0 files.
