How to display multiple posts from one category on front page

  • HI I am a noob- can anyone tell me how to display 4 posts from one category on front page of word press site. While on the dashboard -Pages- HomepageOne. I selected and added a category widget along with one category filter. On the front page it only shows one post. If I select 2 category in the filter it will display more that one post on the front page however I need just one category to display 4 posts.
    Can anyone assist?

  • I use xili Post-in-Post plugin. It will easily do what you are asking: display four posts from a particular category (although it will be the latest four posts). You just add a shortcode to your page with the parameters you need, like this:

    [xilipostinpost query='cat=3' showposts=4]

    There are a number of additional parameters that you can add (go to the settings page once you’ve installed the plugin), which will add elements around your post so you can style them better using CSS. There’s also a widget that comes with the plugin if you want to display your posts in a sidebar instead of the main page.
