Yes, I tried doing it on all of the themes, but it still displays vertically. I’d like to use the Plain theme.

I am using the new WordPress and the new Headway 3.0 if that has anything to do with it. Is there any way I can change it with CSS?

Looks like you have the Plain theme selected?
Can you try switching to Vertical medium for example and saving settings?
