How to display an excerpt from a search match on the result page?

  • Hi. How to display an excerpt from a search match on the result page when using only custom fields (carbonfields) ? I would like to display how, for example, highlight works (on the right and on the left, 20-30 words each, conditionally)

    Hi,

    I’m afraid that can’t be done via a plugin – the excerpt is usually requested and printed on the results page via the theme. The easiest option would be to create a child theme to custom code that, but I’m not sure if that is the only way.

    I guess probably. But I don’t exactly know how to do that unfortunately. I usually recommend custom code snippets where I can, but in this case it’s likely much more complicated.
