How to Display 4 Most Recent Posts On Another Page?

    I have a custom page with the regular wordpress loop to pull in page content, but I also wanted to display the four most recent post excerpts in a separate <div>

    I’ve been spinning my wheels for about 2 hours now, looking through the function reference and I haven’t been able to figure it out.

    What would be the best way to add recent post excerpts to a page?
