I added a new Page from within WordPress from the Pages, Add New link. I can view the page on the website, but cannot find it in the directory structure under …/html/wp-content/themes/mythemename/ . I am viewing the directory using an FTP application.

How can I find out the path and filename of the newly created page?

  • Unlike Flat File systems – WordPress uses general templates to keep a consistent structure throughout a theme. You won’t see “pagename.php” or “pagename.html” very often in your theme.

Most themes come with a page.php which will be the general template for all pages. You can see the list WordPress looks through to find a page template on the Template Hierarchy page of the documentation. The content of those pages are then displayed using The Loop.
