How-to disable moderator notification?

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable moderator notification of comments pending approval? I took a look at the wp_notify_moderator function in functions.php, tried to remove it, but WordPress was not pleased with that.
You see, I am running Skippy’s Comment Authorization plugin, and I find these messages requesting that I approve a comment, especially after it has already been approved through the plugin, to be redundant and unnecessary.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
