How to disable individual sale of an item

I wanted to disable single order of a specific item and wondered if anyone knows how to get this done! Our store wants to offer a sample size item to be ordered but since we offer free shipping on all orders, we want to allow this item to be ordered only when it’s paired with other items. And we are offering a bulk of these sample bottles to be ordered on its own. Thanks!
