How to disable comments on a page (Twenty Ten theme)

There is a small “Allow comments” checkbox at the bottom (default screen options).

Uncheck that and your comments section should get disabled for that specific page/post.

Thanks. I don’t see that checkbox. I see a Comments heading but when I click it, it just says “No comments yet”. There’s no enable/disable box.
