How to Develop Forum completely similar to www.remarpro.com forum

Hi

I was working on a website and on of our client wanted to have a forum completely similar to www.remarpro.com forum style. We were able to use bbpress to get the style and some functionality we are still trying to understand and implement in. There are some more sections we are trying to do.

Is it best that we completely customize the plugin because if we do in future if the plugin gets updated we might loose all the changes.

Any suggestion or ideas will be really helpful.

A lot of the code that drives www.remarpro.com is on GitHub. You’re free to pick out and use anything you find useful.

AFAIK, the WordPress forums version of bbPress is indeed customized and de-associated from bbPress updates. I understand merging updates is an ordeal. Something you’d want to avoid if at all possible. It’s better to use available hooks from your own plugin to institute desired modifications.

Thanks for the suggestion. My goal was I really liked the layout of www.remarpro.com forum and wanted to try somewhat similar styles and design The style was simple and unique but more complicated in understanding for how its done.
